Privacy policy. Your files, mail and history stay on your machine.

What docenta is
docenta is software you install on your own computer. It reads the files, mail archives, mail accounts, repositories and AI session transcripts you point it at, builds a searchable index of them on that computer, and answers questions from it. Originals are never copied anywhere, and the index, the extracted text and the models that run over them live on your machine. SKY, LLC operates no service that holds your content.
What the software sends to SKY, LLC
docenta talks to our servers for four things and nothing else.
- Downloads. Binaries, models and updates come from dl.docenta.ai. Like any web server, it logs the address a request came from and the time.
- Licensing. Your installation generates a key pair on your machine. The public half identifies the machine to our license service at license.docenta.ai, which issues and renews a lease. The service learns that key, the time of each renewal and the address the request came from. It does not learn what you indexed or asked.
- Turbo, only on your word. When you consent to the turbo lane, docenta packs the extracted text of your pending documents, seals it with encryption to a key that exists only on your machine, and sends the sealed pack through our relay to a GPU rented for that one job. The relay sees ciphertext only. The rented machine computes search vectors, returns them sealed, and is destroyed afterwards. Nothing ships without an explicit consent naming the hours, and
docenta turbo consent 0withdraws it. - Early access requests. If you fill in the form on this site, we keep the name, address and question you typed, after you confirm the address by mail, to write back when the door opens. Nothing else is collected and there is no newsletter.
docenta sends no telemetry, no usage statistics and no crash reports.
Google user data
When you connect a Google account with "Sign in with Google", docenta asks Google for the mail scope (https://mail.google.com/) so it can read your mailbox over IMAP, the same way a desktop mail program does. This section describes how that data is handled.
- Where the permission lives. The token Google hands back is stored in your operating system's credential store on your computer (Keychain on macOS, Credential Manager on Windows, the secret service on Linux). It is never written to a file and never sent to SKY, LLC.
- What docenta does with your mail. It fetches messages and attachments to your computer, extracts their text, and indexes them there so you can search and ask questions about them. That is the only use.
- What docenta does not do. Your mail is not transferred to SKY, LLC servers, not sold, not used for advertising, not used to build models or profiles, and not read by any person at SKY, LLC. The one transfer that can occur is the turbo lane described above: extracted text sealed to your own key, sent only on your explicit consent, processed on a machine rented for your job alone, for the sole purpose of building your own search index, and destroyed afterwards.
- Limited use. docenta's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- Taking it back. Remove docenta at myaccount.google.com/permissions and it stops fetching mail and says so.
docenta remove mailrevokes the grant, deletes the token from the credential store and removes the fetched mail from your machine.docenta remove --everythingremoves everything docenta kept.
Other mail providers
An account at another provider is connected with an app password you make on the provider's own page. docenta stores it in the same operating system credential store, uses it only to fetch your mail to your computer, and never sends it anywhere.
Retention and deletion
Everything docenta builds is on your computer, under your control, and the remove command above takes it away part by part or all at once. License records are kept while your installation holds a lease. An early access request is kept until we have written back or you ask us to drop it. Write to docenta@docenta.ai and we delete what we hold about you.
Children
docenta is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the current text is always at docenta.ai/privacy. Questions go to docenta@docenta.ai. SKY, LLC, California, United States.
